Memories...May be Beautiful and yet...

I got this from Leona (as all you family bloggers already know), and like the idea of trying it. However, you all know I'm not as loyally online, so I won't be as good at it, but I'm willing if you are!

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It can also be a family memory - whatever comes to you. Anything goes! (Well, within reason...)

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, no worries. It is, after all, just for fun!

My memory is that when I first moved into the ward, I was begging Matt to let us turn around and go home, and we were in church and you came and introduced yourself and gave me a great HUG!

And then we went to your house for supper and you guys were so loving and made us feel so welcome!--and Bishop jumped on the tramp with Jaden. Ever since meeting you and other awesome people I haven't been too homesick. Thanks!!!

My first memory of "Aunt" Karla is when I was first engaged to Danny. We were hanging out at his apartment and you walked in. The couch we were sitting on faced away from the door. You walked up to us and Dan grabbed you from behind, pulled you over the back of the couch, and gave you a big old hug. I thought, "Holy smokes, that is one cool aunt that he would feel so comfortable that he would do something that crazy to her." My first impression was right. You are one cool aunt. From the first moment I met you you have made me feel loved and welcome with your genuine kindness and warmth. You're amazing.
Love ya,
Emmi

OH geez. I think I know why none of your kids have posted. How on earth are we supposed to pick ONE memory?!?!? As I'm thinking about it, though, it would probably be those night when I was 16,17,18 and would stay up really late (even on school nights) working on a quilt or just watching a movie and you would come down to watch with me. It was so nice to have that one-on-one time with you. Another memory is the trip to Kansas City Missouri. And from younger days, I just remember running errands with you or hanging out at the Standard while you worked - just being with you, even when you were busy with other things. Just your presence made me feel so good. Still does! :) Love you momma!

You were my MOST FAVORITE family on my mission! I know it's been years and years but I have great memories of your family!!

- Playing with "Melaluca & Suzy Q" and loving it!
- Teasing Ben when his voice was starting to change.
- Loving being in your home and feeling 'normal'!
- Bro Cox getting mad at us for not being reverent (we were good at getting a little crazy)
- Coming back with many missionaries for the temple dedication and staying in your basement with all of them. Laughing my head off to "Sister DeWitt, come sleep out here with us" from the other room - too funny!!
- Elder Dresser tackling you on your couch (after we'd all gone home and come back).
- Just LOVING your guts, your hugs, your giggles and your love! You are GREAT!

Hmmm...picking peas, making holly-hock dolls, a keyboard that plays music all by itself, the old wooden playhouse in your backyard, my "favorite" aunt, and the best phone hugs in the world.
-Love ya Aunt Karla

Grandma silly and Grandpa Chuckles...Yeah it fits. I too can't think of just one memory. Sleepovers with Emily, going to the Strawberry cabin, Karla driving with her feet on the dashboard, I even remember playing at your house when you lived next door. Thanks for all the fun and funny memories!! -Melinda Uresk Baker

I'm a little late on this one, but I wanted to put in my comment, too. Although I'm not one of your kids, I have a lot of memories and it is hard to pick one. Probably the best memories I have are the times when I was in Young Women's and we would just talk, at girls camp walking across the camp area, at the church after activities, in your home. I loved talking to you. You are probably one of my favorite people in the world because you have this incredible ability to make people feel loved. Thank you for that!
